Pinned Tweets

By Adam  |  7 Nov 2015 12:00:00

When you're doing marketing over Twitter and interacting with lots of prospects, you might worry that when people come to your Twitter page, all they'll see is lots of fragments of conversations and so forth.  If somebody did only find that then the chances of them seeing something of yours that they liked or clicking through to your website are somewhat diminished. That's why it's a good idea to make use of the often overlooked function which allows you to 'pin' tweets.

If you pin a tweet then that means that it will always appear at the top of your Twitter feed. If somebody comes to your page, your pinned tweet will be the first thing that they see (other than your profile picture or background image) and so if you are going to pin something, it would be a good idea to make sure it's something good. Indeed, if you have taken a really nice photo of your product, written a really witty tweet, or linked back to an excellent piece of content, then they'd all be good choices for your pinned tweet. Of course, you don't have to have a pinned tweet, it's just that it can be useful for several reasons. If you've got something that you're really keen for prospects to see, something which you're sure will persuade people to buy from you, then make it a pinned tweet and more people will see it.

The thing about tweets is that they generally have a very short life span. If you write a tweet, it will appear in a few people's feeds over the next five or ten minutes and will then be forgotten and lost under hundreds and hundreds of other tweets. If you pin a tweet, it will kind of be preserved; sure, people will only see it if they click through to your profile, but they'd normally only see your most recent tweets. So if you ever do have a tweet which you think everybody should see, then pin it to your page! I hope this is a useful tip for your social media marketing. But if you don't even have an eCommerce website to be doing social media marketing for, then whey not sign up to Sellr and make one for no cost at all?
