Student Career Tips

By Adam  |  23 Nov 2015 10:00:00

There are a lot of students out there who aren't really sure what they're going to do with themselves once they leave education. There's a lot of pressure for students to have a solid plan for their lives from an early stage, but the truth is that those with no plan don't need to worry so much. You might not have a plan at the moment, but things will fall into place as you begin to realise which path is best for you. In the meantime, what can you do in order to set yourself up for a good career, even if you don't yet know your path?

Have you considered starting up your own eCommerce website? This would be a wise career move for a number of reasons. Firstly, as a student, I don't imagine you have all that much money, yet you need to be spending money on books, stationery and other things to ensure that you do as well as possible. After all that, it's likely that you won't have all that much to spend on yourself, which could lead to unhappiness. If you started an eCommerce website, this could be a nice source of extra money. Secondly, future employers would be impressed to hear that you started an online shop which you were able to make money off of and it would look good on a CV used to apply for any role (customer support, marketing, administration, retail etc) laying the groundwork for a good career in any area.

Of course, once you've finished education, perhaps you'll put all your efforts towards your eCommerce website and push it from being something you do on the side to becoming a successful independent business! You may think that you'd find it hard to know what to sell, but there are so many options. You could buy clothes in sales and then sell them on your website a few months later when no shops will have them, which would mean you could justify selling them for more than you paid originally. Or perhaps you have some kind of creative hobby where you produce things you'd be able to sell. Maybe you've just got a lot of old stuff you want to sell! As you can see, there are many things you might like to sell on an eCommerce website and there are many benefits of doing so! So if that sounds like something you'd like to do, why not sign up to Sellr now! It won't cost you a thing to put together your very own site.
