Twitter Polls

By Adam  |  2 Nov 2015 10:00:00

Twitter has recently added a new feature which you may or may not have noticed: the ability to add polls to your tweets. I'm sure some of you are thinking "that's all very nice, but, respectfully, what difference does this make?" but the fact is that this might just prove to be very useful for anybody who is doing social media marketing over Twitter. As Twitter is one of the best ways to reach new people and to stay in touch with existing customers, if you aren't doing social media marketing with it then you should really think about starting soon and here's a post on what you can do.

Anyway, back onto the subject of the Twitter polls and how they can be used for marketing. If you've got a couple of ideas bouncing around about what you might have your business do for Christmas (for example) but can't quite decide which would be the best course of action, then you could simply create a poll and ask your Twitter followers. If you're thinking about listing some new products, but aren't sure that your customers will be interested in them, again you could create a poll and ask your followers. You may wonder how this would be any different to simply asking your followers before the poll feature was added, but keep in mind that it is a lot easier to click an option on a poll than it is to write "Yes, this is something I will be interested in" and as it requires less effort, people are more likely to do it.

So, as you can see, the new Twitter polls will make it easier for you to determine what your customers are interested in and what they want. It's only a small thing, but it's handy and it will encourage customer interaction. The more you interact with your customers, the more they'll like you and your business and therefore the more likely they will be to buy from you in future. I hope that the polls will be useful when it comes to marketing your eCommerce website, but if you don't even have an eCommerce website then sign up to Sellr now!
