If you've recently signed up to Sellr then that means that you are going to be planning to start up your own eCommerce business. This is a great idea because the eCommerce business is booming and the internet gives an avenue for small businesses (especially ones in remote communities) to reach a much larger number of people than they ever would otherwise! If you're setting up your Sellr account and therefore running a business for the very first time, today's blog post will give you an idea of some of the things which you need to keep in mind.

  • Keep Record of Everything: you're going to have to start doing a tax return now and to do that properly (and to ensure you don't get taxed too much) you're going to need records of every bit of money you spend and every bit of money you make.

  • Keep Your Personal Life Separate: everybody is online these days and before starting your eCommerce website, it is probable that you already had some kind of online presence. People shouldn't really be able to find your personal Facebook account (for example) through your eCommerce website, especially if you've got photos of yourself drunk on a night out or are sharing raunchy jokes.

  • Keep It Professional: Connected to the last point, you need to make sure that your eCommerce website remains professional looking. Sometimes people use old email addresses like iamdagangstaking@hotmail.com to send business emails and nobody is going to take an email like that seriously. You should aways have your very own email address (you@yourbusiness.com.) Avoiding the little things like this can make a big difference.

  • Don't Give Up: a lot of people think that if they start an eCommerce website, success will come in a matter of days. It's not quite so simple and you need to dedicate a good amount of time and effort into this project – but if you put in the hard work, then it just might pay off!

Those are probably the four things which people most commonly misunderstand or do not consider when starting an online shop – so keep them in mind as you start putting together your own business. But if you don't even have an eCommerce website to work on yet, then sign up to Sellr now and get started for no cost at all.
