Cross Posting on Social Media

By Adam  |  13 Dec 2015 12:00:00

Social media marketing can be difficult because it means that you need to be thinking of things to say to your customers on a daily basis; those funny images and witty one-liners all have to come from somewhere! This might seem even harder if you're active on multiple social media outlets. If you're on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest then you might think it would be a lot easier if you just reposted the same images and text on all of your feed; it would save you the time of having to think up loads of things, that's for sure!

The problem is that there are certain risks when it comes to cross posting on social media. Imagine a customer who is active on all of the social media outlets you use, they find you on one and then follow you. When they see that you're posting the same things in your other feeds, they aren't going to be inclined to follow you on them. If they didn't follow you on the others, they wouldn't be reminded of your business so regularly when they do their regular social media visits. There are also special tools you can use to repost things to another social media feed after you've already posted it to one, but these are especially bad because they often just provide links to the original post... Though these kinds of things are used quite often, they do make certain social media accounts look rather redundant.

The best approach could be to occasionally cross post things (maybe only the best posts) but to otherwise make each of your social media feeds as unique as possible. Ultimately, it's your own business and therefore your decision as to how you present it on social media (there aren't really any strict rules) so do what is best for you once you have considered time and resources.
