Is Your Site Static

By Adam  |  22 Jun 2016 12:00:00

Do you think your website is static? Sure it might have flashy graphics and videos and images on it, but it could still, ultimately, be very static. How often do you add new content to your site? This is a very important factor for search engine algorithms because if they don't see anything added to a site in quite a long period of time, they'll see this as an indicator that a site may have been abandoned, or at least, that it's a site whose owners don't put much effort into it. If an algorithm thinks this, then you're going to rank less highly than you could.

So what can you do to stop your site from looking static? Well, there are lots of ways to keep the site alive and fresh, the most common of which is keeping a blog. Keeping a blog not only helps to show search engines that the site is current and relevant, but it helps SEO in other ways too by ensuring that you cover lots of keywords which are connected to your business, but which might be difficult to integrate naturally. Also, every time you add a new product for sale on your site, this will also keep things fresh – if you are always changing up the products you offer, this will already be covered! If you always offer the same products and rarely add new ones, you might like to try updating the product descriptions periodically, just to make sure they are always up to date.

Making sure that you are either always adding new content to your site or, at least, updating the existing content is one of the many things you can do to appease your search engine algorithm masters. They don't want dead sites coming up when there are sites out there which are still getting new content and this is why they use this as a factor. But if you don't even have an eCommerce website yet, then sign up to Sellr now and get started for no cost at all!
