Expanding Your eCommerce Website

By Adam  |  29 Aug 2015 12:00:00

When you first start your eCommerce website, you'll doubtlessly be focused on a few related products which share a niche. This is the best way to get the ball rolling because if you are targeting a niche, there's a chance that they have not been targeted before and you will therefore be more likely to make sales. After all, if you're selling something which most people do not sell, then the people who want to buy it are quite likely to turn to you!

But once things are going quite comfortable, one thing you might like to think about is expanding the range of products you cover. If you're already doing quite nicely on a small scale, why not increase your scale by increasing the number of products you offer? This would be a good way to attract even more people to your website. Of course, when you do expand the range of your products, it would be good to keep them related to the original ones just so you avoid customers asking questions like "Why are they selling that?" If you're not convinced that this could be a good idea, you need only look to Amazon. When they first started out, Amazon was dedicated solely to selling books! Little by little they started covering more and more things until they became the all in one eCommerce giant that we know them as today.

So if you were looking for a way to expand, it could be a good idea to think about what additional products would be appropriate for your eCommerce website. If it ultimately doesn't turn out to be that useful, you don't have to offer them again in future but it will have been worth your time to carry out that little experiment to see what works and what does not. You never know, it could be just the thing to bring you lots of new customers! But if you don't yet have an eCommerce website, then sign up for Sellr right now and create your own for no cost at all!
