Web Page Authority

By Adam  |  20 Apr 2016 12:00:00

Anyone with an eCommerce website will be hoping that the pages on their site all have good SEO, but how can you ensure that something has good SEO? Well, there's a huge list of contributing factors to SEO: links back to any given page, traffic to that page, the length of the content on a page, the quality of content and much more. One thing that has a determining factor in a page’s ranking is its authority and in today's blog post I would like to give you an easy tip to help boost your webpage authority.

One thing that search engines always do, is scan across the internet to see how many other webpages are linking back to any specific page and what they do is look at any other links that are on the page that link back. So, to simplify that: imagine you wrote a blog post on knitting jumpers for your knitting supplies eCommerce website, then another website posted a link back to your website in a post which also linked to a big, well established knitting site. Search engines then see them as two good reliable resources and your blog gains more authority. While it's not quite as effective, you can manufacture this on a small scale: when you write a blog post, you could later write another blog post and link back to the earlier one while also linking out to a good authoritative page on the web - this will help to boost rankings of the original post. It won't be as effective as if an external website had done the same, but it is still worth doing.

So I hope that gives you a good idea of one of the things you can do to help your eCommerce website rank more highly. It wouldn't be too hard for you to slip something like this into a piece of your content marketing. Ultimately, the most important thing to do is to write, worthwhile, high quality content, but there are small things like this which can be beneficial too. But if you don't even have an eCommerce website to do content marketing for, then sign up to Sellr now and get started for no cost at all!
