Creative Marketing With Vine

By Adam  |  17 Jul 2015 19:00:00

The importance of marketing cannot be stressed often enough. In the past I have written posts about social media marketing (with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and also content marketing, but there are a lot of other options available. The ones I've already mentioned are the standard forms of social media marketing that most people use, but the internet is a large place and there are many tools available to you. If you have your own marketing idea which nobody else seems to have done; try it! Maybe you'll go viral and be a huge success.

One example of a more creative use of marketing is what Rice Digital did on Vine. Vine is a video sharing service where you can upload videos for other people to see, but they can only be six seconds long. Rice Digital is a UK-based eCommerce business which specialises in selling Japanese media. Surely Vine would be a worthless outlet to them? Well, they actually have been regularly posting comedic little videos on Vine and building up quite a number of followers; followers who will now have learned of the business and stand to become customers. The videos were all related to their products too, so the people who'll find and enjoy these Vines will actually be the people who might buy from the business too! It's actually a very clever form of content marketing.

Could you get onto Vine and do the same yourself? Absolutely! I would encourage experimentation with these social media outlets which do not have a mainstream reputation as marketing tools! Not all that many businesses are on Vine, so if you got on there, you'd not have much competition for the attention of potential customers. But the point of this blog post isn't to tell you that you should be using Vine for marketing, rather, that there are a lot of options out there and you don't have to 'stick to the rules' to get people to come to your eCommerce website. If you're more of a creative person, use that creativity and perhaps it will pay off!
