How eBay Alienates Sellers

By Adam  |  15 Jan 2016 12:00:00

If people want to sell something online, they'll turn to eBay a lot of the time. Since eBay has been well known for a large number of years and almost everybody's heard of it, of course it will be the first place that a lot of people turn when they want to start selling online. However, this certainly does not mean that it's the best solution for selling online; many would even tell you that it's not even a good solution for selling online! A lot of eBay sellers feel alienated by eBay and I'm going to use this blog post to tell you just why that is.

The portion of people who are using eBay to sell items is always going to be smaller than the portion of people who are using eBay to buy items, which is why a lot of things from smaller sellers go unsold. So the way that eBay make their money is through taking a small amount of money from each sale that is made (as well as selling some listings, advertising and so forth). Since millions and millions of people are buying from eBay all the time, this is no insignificant amount of money! Because of this, you can see why eBay might favour their buyers over their sellers - and they do! There are so, so many cases of people who have put a listing up had somebody buy it, claim the product was not as described and then demand a refund; even when the product is exactly as described, this sort of thing still happens and eBay force the seller to refund the customer and often the seller will not get their product back either. Another common thing is for a customer to make an account, buy something, get it, claim it never arrived (but it did), get a full refund, then close their account and rinse and repeat so they are never suspected. Sadly, this goes on because eBay does little to stop it.

That's why more and more people are finding new ways to sell online besides eBay; one of these ways is Sellr. With Sellr you'll gain all the assets you need to put together your very own eCommerce website without spending a thing, or you can pay us and we'll put together a website for you! Having your own website would mean that it is for you, and you alone, to decide whether or not somebody has legitimate claim for a refund. It's a great way to be free of things like that, while also gaining a nice dose of freedom. So, if this sounds like something you might be interested in, sign up to Sellr now and get started right away!
