Is a Google Algorithm Change Coming?
Anybody who makes their living through running a business is kind of at the mercy of Google. If your money comes exclusively from people visiting your site, other than a few people who may already have you favourited, almost everybody is going to come to you through Google searches. So if the Google algorithm changes, that might mean that your site suddenly doesn't rank quite so well and you might find that you are getting less traffic and making fewer sales.
So why do people think that an algorithm change is coming? Well, like any piece of software, Google is being updated all the time so that it can become better and improve the experience of its users. It's been quite a while since the last big update from Google and people are starting to wonder when the next one might be coming along. Before updates in the past, there had been strange and wild fluctuations to the rankings as they tested it and slowly brought it in and fluctuations of this kind of have been spotted recently. The algorithm is called “Google Penguin” and with all the recent fluctuations and so forth, it is expected that the next Google Penguin update will be along shortly.
What an you do to prepare for this change? Just try to do the best you can to ensure that your website is both as accessible to users as possible and that you are not doing any unethical link building. If you intentionally do things to try and unnaturally manipulate the ranking of your site, Google are only going to be more likely to notice this and to penalise you once they have received their next update. Google just want good sites with good honest links from other sites and that is what you need to focus on developing.
