Set Up Your Domain Through Network Solutions

If you want to start up your own eCommerce website, there's a good chance that you're going to want a domain. Whether you're starting your business with the launch of your website or launching a website for an established business, buying a domain is a good idea. If you can't afford one right now, that's fair enough, but domains are useful things to have. Domains give a website an added air of professionalism and authority and will make customers feel more confident about them, thus encouraging sales. Network Solutions is a popular web hosting site and in this post I'm going to talk about choosing your domain and then how to use a domain from Network Solutions for your Sellr store.

So what name do you want to go for? Avoid using your own name for the domain, because that's not something people are likely to just casually search for; the same can be said of the business's name. A good idea is to go for the name of your business followed by a word or two about your product or service. If your business was called Writr and you sold pens, you could go for www.WritrPens.com as a good domain name. But take your time and make sure you go for something that's good for you, your customers and your business.

Once you've decided on and purchased your domain name, this is what you need to do next. Go to Network Solutions and login in to manage your account. On the 'Log in to' drop down menu make sure you click 'Manage My Domains'. Adverts might pop up now, so just skip them by clicking 'Continue to Account Manager' then on the next page click 'Edit DNS'. You should now be on a page with a 'My Products & Services' tab and under that you should click 'Change Where Domain Points' and choose 'Advanced DNS'. Now click 'Edit A Records' and set the 'www' row to be deleted while changing the value in the '@ (none)' row to the Sellr IP address (80.168.142.220) and then click 'Continue'. Now you need to add a 'CNAME' record; click 'edit CNAME records' and in the first empty box, write in 'www' before finally adding your URL in the 'Other Host' box. Click 'Save' and you're all done there!

The next steps of the process are handled on the Sellr website, so log in to your account and click the 'Website' tab and go to 'Website Domain Name' where you will find everything laid out nice and simply for you.
