Testing Your Site in Different Browsers

By Adam  |  3 Aug 2016 12:00:00

The browsers standing proud.

Two of the most important questions for the owner of an eCommerce website to ask themselves are "Does my site look good?" and "Is my site functional?" because if potential customers come to a site which is ugly and unprofessional looking, they're not going to be incentivised to make any kind of purchase, because an unprofessional looking site might also be unreliable. Also, if your site is not functional, they might not even be able to make the purchases they want!

From your point of view, everything might look fine and everything might work fine, but what browser are you using? Regardless of what you use, if you only use one browser, you don't know what it might look like through the perspective of another browser. Every browser displays things a little differently and something which might be just right on one browser, could be damaging the structure of the site on another. It's always good to quickly load up your site on the different browsers, just to make sure that it looks good on all of them - often all it will take is for you to slightly reposition an image or shorten a piece of text and then it will look fine across all of them.

Huge numbers of people use each of the different browsers, so if there's even one that isn't displaying properly, it's definitely worth tending to! Hopefully this piece of advice will be useful - every time you make a change, just take the time to look over it through the other browsers. You'll almost certainly be fine with the Sellr templates, but as the old saying goes "It's always better to be safe than sorry!" - if you don't even have an eCommerce website yet, then sign up to Sellr now and get started for no cost at all.
