Business Advent Calendars

By Adam  |  19 Nov 2015 10:00:00

With Christmas fast approaching (now only five weeks and a day to go) it's doubtlessly on the minds of a lot of people. If you run an eCommerce website, you need to prepare for Christmas in advance because if you have a good plan, you really stand to see an increase in sales. Many people start Christmas shopping in November, so you should really already be in the first stages of your plan, but if you don't have a plan yet; don't worry! You still have enough time to prepare your business for December and enjoy a spike in sales.

There are many ways to prepare your business for Christmas, but today I'd like to focus on business advent calendars. Everybody loves advent calendars because they remind them of how close Christmas is, while giving them a little treat too. Businesses do advent calendars over social media where they give their customers some kind of treat on each of the days leading up to Christmas; these treats usually take the form of sales which last for the duration of the day (and these could be the things you think people are most likely to buy as gifts or for Christmas parties). People will appreciate that you are offering something at a reduced price, while also feeling a degree of pressure to make a purchase, knowing it is reduced for a limited time only (thus encouraging sales). But you don't only have to offer sales; sometimes businesses do fun things like having their staff sing Christmas carols and uploading a video. Just find something Christmassy that you think your customers will appreciate, be it a discount or a fun piece of Christmas content.

It would be a good idea to make some kind of advent calendar frame and then put an appropriate image in it for each day. So, if you were offering a sale on an item on one day, that item would go in the frame, if you were sharing a Christmassy video, you'd put something from the video in the frame. Just to be clear, I mean a digital frame rather than physical one; the kind of thing that will look nice and professional when shared on social media. Whatever you ultimately decide to do to market your business this Christmas, I hope it will be effective and that you will enjoy lots of sales. But if you don't even have an eCommerce website yet, then sign up to Sellr now and make one for no cost at all!
