Facebook Live
I recently wrote a blog post about an app called Meerkat which allows you to do live video streams over Twitter. That's quite an exciting idea and there are lots of innovative ways that this could be used for marketing. I guess it shouldn't a huge shock, therefore, that Facebook has recently announced a similar service called Facebook Live! It looks like live video feeds could be the next big thing in social media marketing.
So far, however, Facebook Live is only available to celebrities and other people who have a 'verified' account. Nonetheless I am confident that this feature will eventually be made available to the average person... Or at least that Facebook would eventually decide to offer that service for a fee. But while Facebook Live may not be something you can use for your eCommerce website just yet, in the meantime you could take a look at what people are doing with the service; if somebody has a really cool idea for something to do live, there's no shame in borrowing that same idea for your own business! Most new ideas are just two other existing ideas put together and if you need to try and think of something to do for marketing, there's nothing wrong with looking at what somebody else has already done.
It's also worth remembering Meerkat, which I mentioned at the start of this post. If hearing about Facebook Live got you excited and spurred up several ideas in you, only to find that it was exclusive to famous people, why not just use Meerkat to make those ideas into a reality on Twitter? Meerkat is available to use right now and you've no guarantee that Facebook Live will ever be available to you. Of course, live streaming isn't for everybody, but if you're at all interested, by all means go for it! This could prove to bring you many new customers.
