How to Incentivise Sales

By Adam  |  2 May 2016 12:00:00

If there's one thing all eCommerce business owners have in common, it's the fact that they all want to make as many sales as possible. In fact, that's true of all business owners! But if you've got an eCommerce website, what can you do to incentivise sales? Well, if you're not selling as many products as you'd hoped, then perhaps some of the following ideas will be able to help you sell a few more things.

Flash Sales
If you offer products at an especially low price, but only for an hour or two (or a day at most) then people are going to feel real pressure to make a purchase as quickly as possible. The fact that the sale is so short will convince people that it must be a really good deal, even if it's only a little reduction. Of course, if lots of people are coming onto the site to buy something which is on offer, they might just happen to by some of your other products too! Make sure to advertise these flash sales on social media and in email newsletters!

Voucher Codes
People like using voucher codes just because they always love to get an offer. If you put voucher codes up on your social media feeds and in email newsletters, people are then more likely to go on over to your site so that they can get their reductions. You can set all kinds of different deals on coupons and vouchers, they don't even really need to be huge discounts, but customers will want to use them if they have them, especially if they're limited time offers.

A Sense of Urgency
If you want to get rid of some products and they're the kinds of things which people might like but which they might not buy right away, make it clear that stocks are limited and that once they're all gone, that will be it. At the speed they're selling, maybe there won't be any real urgency at all, but by using phrases like "limited stocks" and "buy them while they last" people are more likely to make a purchase, because they don't want to miss the chance to buy those products.

So those are three good methods for incentivising sales. If you use these ideas, you're likely to see an increase in purchases from your site. Whatever you do to promote your products, I hope it will be successful! But if you don't even have an eCommerce website yet, then sign up to Sellr now and make one for no cost at all!
