In an unexpected turn of events, Microsoft has purchased the professional networking site, LinkedIn for an enormous $26 billion! What makes this especially interesting is the fact they are paying in cash and also that this means that they are essentially paying over $60 for each individual profile – but it is all of the profiles (and the information which can be gained from each one) which is actually what has given LinkedIn that value.
