Microsoft Buys LinkedIn
In an unexpected turn of events, Microsoft has purchased the professional networking site, LinkedIn for an enormous $26 billion! What makes this especially interesting is the fact they are paying in cash and also that this means that they are essentially paying over $60 for each individual profile – but it is all of the profiles (and the information which can be gained from each one) which is actually what has given LinkedIn that value. All the data that Microsoft obtains about people in different industries will be almost invaluable. The is just the latest of many acquisitions for Microsoft which, in the past, have included Nokia and British video game developer Rare.
So what can you, the owner of an eCommerce website, learn from this? Well, firstly it should help you to see how valuable LinkedIn is! It can be used to form vital connections which could lead to more business or it could be used as a great way to give yourself a little more exposure. It's the perfect place to share blog posts which contain important and interesting information which will be of relevance to people who could be potential buyers. That's not to mention that if you ever needed to hire new employees, this could be the perfect platform on which to promote your vacancy or even to target specific professionals.
It's always best to keep up to date with what is current and important and LinkedIn is both. You need to have as large an internet presence as possible and LinkedIn is one of the many sites you need to think about getting yourself on. Things like this can really help to drive sales on your eCommerce website, but if you don't even have an eCommerce website yet, then sign up to Sellr now and get started for no cost at all!
