Password Security
Anybody who's active on the internet will likely have had to make their fair share of passwords over the years. Almost every website that offers some kind of service will require you to make an account before you use their service, this account will need a password and to make an account you'll need an email address, which will also have a password and so on. I guess I don't really need to explain it to you, because if you just take a minute to think about all the different things you have a password for, you'll soon realise that number is quite large. In today's blog post I'd like to talk about how you can make sure your password is as secure as possible.
Owners of independent eCommerce businesses (like you) have a lot more to lose if somebody obtains their password. Somebody who was especially malicious could take control of your website and use it to spread computer viruses. Furthermore, if your business's bank account was accessed, you could lose all of the money. Either of these two scenarios would be devastating to any small business and would doubtlessly mean the end. What customer would trust you after that? So, as you can see, password security is especially important for you.
What you should do is have a different password for everything that you use; that way, if somebody is able to obtain your password they'll gain access to only one thing and this problem will, hopefully, be quickly isolated and resolved. If you have a single password and somebody gets that, they get access to everything. Each password you use should be completely random and have no connection to you; make it virtually impossible to guess "Dandelion9283" for example. Passwords are always case sensitive, so be sure to mix together capital and lowercase letters. Random strings of numbers are also just about the hardest thing for anybody to guess, but never use your PIN! Doing all of these things, and changing your passwords periodically too, will ensure that you are as safe as possible when it comes to password security, meaning you will never need to worry about the safety of your eCommerce business. But if you don't even have an eCommerce website, then sign up to Sellr now and create one for no cost at all!
