PayPal Payments on Your eCommerce Site
If PayPal is your preferred means of handling money over the internet, it's only natural that you would also use it as the main mode of payment on your eCommerce website. One misconception is that you need to have PayPal to pay PayPal (if you know what I mean) and, if you're not careful you may actually have it set so that PayPal can only receive PayPal payments. Here's a quick guide to change that.
When you log in to PayPal, go to your 'Profile' and then go to 'My Selling Tools' and then scroll down until you get to 'Web Preferences' where you should click 'Update'. In the 'Web Preferences' you will see that one of the options says 'PayPal Account Optional' and you simply need to set it to 'On' that way people will not have to have their own PayPal account in order to pay into your one.
This may sound like a small thing, but it might be the difference between making a sale and not making a sale. If somebody likes the look of something on your website and wants to buy it, are they still going to want it when they find out they have to set up a PayPal account first? Maybe they will, but is it really worth taking the risk when you can just have them use their card? For all you know, there's another website out there which is offering the same product, but which will let the customers pay without having to set up their own PayPal account.
In general, it's always best to accommodate your customers as much as possible, especially when it is something to do with their money. Some people are very protective of their details to the extent that they might not feel safe having to sign up for PayPal to get your product. There are a lot of scammers out there on the internet, and it would be a great shame if you were mistaken for one.
So take a few seconds and make sure that 'PayPal Account Optional' is on with your account, it's definitely worth your time. If it was set to 'Off': now that it has been changed, perhaps you'll see a rise in sales?
