SEO Friendly Blogging

Keeping a blog along with your eCommerce website is a good way to keep traffic flowing to your website. Not only will this give existing customers a good reason to keep returning to you, but it will also help to bring new people to your site because it will increase the number of internet searches that lead to you (because you'll be covering more subjects with your site.) But there are certain things you can do to make blog posts especially SEO friendly and I'm going to go over them in today's blog post.
Use Headings
When you use headings, search engines can see that the writing has been broken up into easy-to-read sections. Though they're not quite perfect yet, search engine algorithms are essentially designed to filter out the best webpages and ensure that they come up first. To be the "best", of course content needs to well written and user-friendly and headings are a good indicator of this. Naturally, other things, like having lots of links leading back to your site, are also important for SEO, but you do need to be conscious of how you lay out your blog posts.
Bullet Points
Much like headings, bullet points can really help to make a piece of content much more accessible. When blogging, you don't want to be overly wordy because you don't want to bore your readers - if you use bullet points you can easily convey lots of information in the space of a few words. Much like the use of headings, bullet points are something else which search engines algorithms view favourably.
300 Words +
Some places will say that a good piece of content needs to be 1,000 words or more - but this is impractical for many pieces of writing. I am sure that information like that has caused people to stretch out what could have been a perfectly good 300 word blog post and make it a terrible, overly padded 1,000 word piece. 300 words is enough for you to say something substantial without the post being too short.
Other Things to Do
- Include relevant keywords.
- Ensure everything is properly proofread.
- Include at least one image.
- Include a call to action.
- Make it easy to share on social media
So I hope that gives you a good idea of how to do good SEO for any pieces of content you create for your eCommerce website! But if you don't even have an eCommerce website yet, then sign up to Sellr now and make one for no cost at all!
