Socially Responsible Business

By Adam  |  17 Oct 2016 12:00:00

There we all are.

As we move forward, there is an ever growing demand for socially responsible businesses. People are aware that a lot of the larger business out there carry out a lot of dubious and unethical practises because in the age of information, facts like these are much more readily available to the consumer. With this in mind, you might wish to make your new eCommerce venture as socially responsible as possible. In today's blog post I am going to go over some of the ways that you can make your business socially responsible.

  • Supporting the local community: Is your local school planning on hosting some kind of event? Why not make a donation to help make it possible. Why not contribute to whatever big event everybody is looking forward to? Get in touch with the council and see what you can do. They'd be grateful of the support and would no doubt thank you openly which can help with brand awareness.

  • Sell ethically sourced products: Do you sell some kind of food on your eCommerce website? Well, if you are it would be a good idea for you to use ingredients which you have produced yourself, or to use only food which you know to be organic and natural.

  • Donate to charity: Everybody loves a charitable business because then they know that if they buy something from you, part of that money might be going to good causes. If you do like to donate money to charity, don't be afraid to draw attention to it and, if you don't, maybe now would be a good time to start.

  • Be environmentally friendly: In the past this might have been somewhat controversial and you might not have wanted to "pick a side" but more and more people are coming to agree that an environmental approach is the best. If you work in an office that's carbon neutral, use only renewable materials in the creation of your products or anything else like that, then you should definitely be telling people about it.

These are just four quick ideas, but if you have any other ways in mind that would reflect your business as the good and honest organisation that it is, by all means let people know about these facts! But if you don't even have an eCommerce business with which to be socially responsible, then sign up to Sellr now and get started for no cost at all!
