The Face of Your Business
So you've made an eCommerce website and things are going swimmingly. There's good traffic on the site, you're making more than enough sales to get by, your social media pages have a lot followers, you've hired another staff member or two so that things can run more efficiently and it's just generally a good time for you to be in charge of your business. Perhaps a local newspaper wants to get in touch so that they can run an article for your success story. Fantastic! Surely this can only be good for business? Well, I'd just like to draw your attention to something you should be aware of.
Perhaps this is a bit personal, but do you find it easy to engage with others? Are you more of an extrovert or an introvert? Do people find you likeable? Do people get your jokes, or are they often offended by them? All I want to say is that if you do struggle when it comes to interacting with others, you might like to consider hiring somebody as the face of your business. The reason for this is that if you were to come across negatively to someone from a newspaper, there'd then be the potential that any article about you that they write would depict you negatively. If you and your business are shown in a negative light in a newspaper, this could be disastrous! If you're not a people person (and there's nothing wrong with that) then having someone else represent you for the media could be a good idea.
But, of course, this won't be an issue for everybody. If you love chatting to people, making connections and getting yourself out there, this is an area in which you will thrive, but being a good business person does not necessarily mean that you are good at social interaction. It's just something to keep in mind should you ever find yourself in a position like this. But if you don't even have an eCommerce website yet, then sign up to Sellr now and get started for no cost at all!
