Why to Write a Blog

When starting a blog, you need to think about what kinds of things you're going to cover and you also need to decide what your update schedule is going to be. The first few months might be the hardest, because at that time you'll still be getting into the habit of regularly updating your blog. During those first few months, you might like to experiment a little; try out different kinds of blog posts, cover a lot of different subjects. It's a good time to find out what you enjoy writing about and what your readers enjoy reading. Speaking of readers, you might not have so many at first, but don't worry about that. Blog readerships grow slowly and you won't have loads of people reading right away, but if you provide regular, interesting posts, readers are sure to come. Be sure to market yourself on social media as well! Interesting social media content will be a good way to draw people in.

So what is the point of writing a blog? What is the ultimate goal? Well, firstly, regularly updating a blog is a nice routine to adopt. If you ever go through a spell of unemployment, you've still got something to do to keep you busy; that's not to mention that it might look good on a CV! If you've been maintaining a professional blog for a while and built up an audience with it, that's definitely something to be proud of. You might write it as a hobby at first, but eventually be able to make money from it (like, for example, by starting an eCommerce website in conjunction with it, which can easily be done with Sellr) or it might open the door for you to other writing opportunities. Paid writing opportunities, that is. Plus it feels very satisfying to look over pages full of blog posts that you've written; it's nice to see your hard work laid out before you. Also, need I mention that, above all else, writing a blog is fun!
