Halloween eCommerce

So today is the first day of October! Goodness gracious, this year certainly seems to be flying by at an alarming rate. Before you know it October will nearly be over and we'll be facing Halloween. Does Halloween stand to have any effect on your business? Yes, it does! Not too long ago, I wrote a post about how you should be preparing your business for Christmas and now I want to do the same for Halloween. Christmas, of course, is a much bigger occasion than Halloween and so will require much more work and preparation, but Halloween might still see a short but significant boost in sales.

Don't forget that a lot of people take Halloween very seriously and put a lot of effort into making it a fun and special day for them, their friends and their family. So what will people buy for Halloween? Toys (as gifts for kids), sweets (for trick or treaters), formal wear (for formal Halloween parties), alcohol (for adult Halloween parties), snacks (for all Halloween parties), make shift supplies (for making costumes and decorations), decorations (to set houses up for parties), DVDs (for horror movie viewings) and probably more too! As you can see, there are a lot of products which might well see a spike in sales during the Halloween period.

Does your eCommerce website sell any of the items I listed above? Or, indeed, any other items which you can connect to Halloween somehow? Well then, do all you can to draw attention to them! What could be a very good idea would be to produce spooky looking graphics to promote them and then share those graphics over social media on a regular basis, drawing attention to how they can be used for Halloween. You might also like to consider doing some limited time promotions. If you've got a sale on for Halloween, it might encourage people to buy your product and use it for Halloween purposes, even if they had not thought of doing so before.
